James looked up at Milo, rubbing away his tears before he looked back down at Snow, brushing her hair back. “No, I never should have hurt you,” he said through his tears. He shook his head, his hands still playing with her hair. “I’ll never do it again, my love. I promise. My Dove,” his voice was desperate. He didn’t want to lose her, not again. Not for real.
When Milo performed his miracle James couldn’t help but gasp. Normally, he would have asked Milo how he was feeling but he was too absorbed by Snow to care. “My Dove?” he asked. “Dove, how are you feeling?”
Snow looked up at him lovingly, producing a weak smile. She felt whole again, with the exception of the bullet hole. She reached up and caressed his cheek softly. “I love you,” she said. And she meant it.
All of a sudden, the pain vanished, left behind by a warm, almost tingly sensation around the wound. She looked over, really seeing everyone for the first time. She rested her hand on Milo’s and whispered, “Thank you.” He didn’t know how grateful she was, but she planned on making it up to him somehow.
She turned back to James and smiled, “I’m- much better actually…strange…”
“Dr. Thatch,” Claudia gasped, “You really are a miracle worker.” She ignored Facilier’s question and crouched by Milo, gently touching his shoulder. “Are you going to be all right, Dr. Thatch?” she asked, slightly concerned.
He only relaxed when he was sure that the woman, now who he is assuming to be the wife James had mentioned at some point, seemed to be fine. Good. At least he wasn’t too late. He nodded his head in recognition of her thank you, but otherwise simply sat out of the way. He didn’t wish to disturb the couple’s moment after all. In a way it kind of reminded him of when Kida was one with the crystal. He understood James’ pain all too well.
The counselor almost didn’t hear Claudia as he found himself lost in thought. “Hm? Oh I-I’ll be fine. Just a little… tired.” He would insist on her calling him Milo instead of Dr. Thatch, but now it wasn’t really worth it to mention this.
He bit the inside of his cheek, rolling his shoulders back as he watched his love. Tapping his foot once, he turned, making his way. ”I’m leavin’, Claudia.” He stated, not in the mood. He moved out of the front yard, already feeling anger rise in him. He simply opened the door, stepping outside and heading home, not seeing if Claudia followed or not.
Everything was a blur. Dark spots clouded her vision, threatening to render her unconscious. She could hear voices, but the only one she cared about was James’. She took his hand, giving it a squeeze. The other reached up and wiped his tears away, “I…should never have…left you,” she gasped.
She cried out in pain as Facilier pulled out the bullet from her side, squeezing James’ hand harder. She was so glad he was there with her. It gave her at least some sort of comfort, knowing he cared.
Claudia followed them, biting down on her lip as she watched Facilier work. She shook her head, looking away. it reminded her too much of her sisters abuse. But, she relayed his instructions to another servant and they quickly returned with thread for him.
“Facilier,” she mumbled, handing him the thread and needle that was supplied. “Here.”
She watched James rest his head on Snow’s shoulder, still whispering to her and she couldn’t help but look at Facilier, wondering if he would do the same if it had happened to her.
“D-Doctor Facilier? Claudia?” They were here? Why? Well it didn’t really matter. They could easily be James’ friends as well. But there were more important things to worry about. He looked at the wound and knew that the woman needed this wound closed 5 minutes ago. “Doctor… I don’t think we’ll be needed that.” He gently pushed the man’s needle and thread aside and took his crystal out from under his shirt. Unwrapping the object revealed it’s soft blue glow to those present. Biting his lip hoping it would work, Milo carefully touched the crystal around the edges of the hole and placed his hand on top. The glow permeated underneath his hand, causing a warm and soothing sensation. Due to the severity of the wound, it took him a few minutes before he felt the skin reconnect under his palm. He knew she would still be weak from blood loss, but at least she won’t lose any more. He himself felt pretty tired after the ordeal and went from a crouching position to sit down there on the ground.
He took the thread, only to look at Milo, arching one brow. He watched, a bit curious as the man took out a crystal. He watched, wondering where exactly Milo had gotten such a treasure, but said nothing about it, figuring he’s said enough. He looked over towards James, uncertain, before he turned to Claudia, “Y’all wanna leave or stay?” He said, voice deadpan.
The prince wasn’t sure why he said what he did. Perhaps it was because he enjoyed watching the anger on another’s face. Or perhaps it was because he wanted to die. Is Snow White was out of his life forever and he was now doomed to go from woman to woman, never to be satisfied by his wife’s touch ever again.
So, when Facilier threw him to the ground, he grinned. But his hand squeezed the trigger and the last bullet of the gun flew from the barrel, flying toward the garden.
Oh this was bad. It was worse than she thought. She knew she had to do something when she saw Facilier slam James to the ground. She rushed out from behind the bush, hoping to knock Facilier off of him somehow. But the gun fired…
Searing pain shot through her side. A gasp escaped her lips, realizing too late what had happened. She collapsed to the ground, doubling over, as the pain really began to kick in.
Claudia screamed loudly at the gun fire, running out from her hiding spot before she realized that James’ little princess had been shot. While she was slightly relieved, she still let out a horrified scream. She could see the horror in James’ eyes and she ran over to Facilier, tugging at his arms.
“Let him go!” she screamed. “HIs lady is hurt, let him go to her!”
Milo was exhausted to be sure, however he hadn’t spoken to James since the man was kind enough to rescue him and house him. He honestly felt that a visit was in order. Choosing to walk he set out on his journey to the man’s castle. His crystal he decided to keep with him ever since he returned home. It was much safer for both him and the crystal this way, he simply wrapped it in a cloth to conceal the glow from under his shirt.
After approaching the front door a servant let him in and informed him that James was in the backyard and pointed the way for him. Nodding his thanks, Milo made his way to the garden and quickly found a gruesome scene. Blood. He saw blood. The mere sight of it made him pale. A poor woman lay on the ground and the linguist cringed in sympathetic agony. Suddenly he remembered his crystal and ran over to investigate. “M-M-Miss are you ok?”
He looked over, casually watching at Snow fell. He was used to gunfire, and very used to people get hurt. It wasn’t until Claudia ran over to him, tugging at him, did he move off of James, helping him up. He tugged the other closer to him, murmuring, “This is a warnin’, do anything like this again and I’ll make sure both you an’ ya fuckin’ princess is dead.”
He pushed him away, hand in pockets. His eyebrows rose as he saw Milo, wondering just how many were invited to this body. Grunting, he moved foward, “G’evenin’, Mr. Thatch.” He went on one knee, looking over Snow. He clicked his tug, digging into his jacket. He applied an ointment, before he reached back into his pocket, oddly calm about the whole ordeal. Using tweezers, the best he had at the moment, he worked on getting the bullet out, able to do it, looking it over, as he stood. ”Go find thread.” He stated, casually.
“May I remind you that words and actions are two different things. I didn’t touch any of them. I wouldn’t dream of touching them, seeing as one of them was yours and I couldn’t quite tell which one was which. They were all wearing this dull gray color. It was…strange to say the least.”
James kept the gun in his hand, knowing there was only one bullet left and he wasn’t about to waste on target practice if things got physical. “And, to answer your first question, I’m not trying to say anything. I am merely telling you what I saw.”
Snow followed the direction of the voices until she caught site of James. But Facilier was there, and he sounded angry. She hoped James wouldn’t have a reason to use the gun she saw he was holding.
Afraid she would just make the situation worse, she decided to hide out behind the rose bushes she had planted before she left, and watched, hoping she wouldn’t have to step in if things got…out of hand.
Claudia stepped forward cautiously, hiding behind one of the pillars and almost gasping as she heard James spoke. He brow furrowed angrily as she peered around the pillar, noting that James had taken a few steps back. The bastard was implying the most horrid of things. And too her fiancé!
“Your lady makes the cutest of noised when she’s nervous, did you now that, Facilier?” she heard James snicker. It took all of her will power not to run over there an smack him across the face.
If the man had a death wish, then so be it.
He blinked at James, slowly. Then he proceeded to slam him into the ground. He hissed, low in his throat. ”Y’all have a fuckin’ death wish? I should let my shadows fucking rip ya skin off ya damn body, pull out ya eyes, and make ya watch. How the fuck does that sound?”
He glared down at the man, violet eyes glowing as his fists clenched onto the shirt tighter, tempted to simply take the gun he was still holding and shoot his face into oblivion.
It’d been a few days since the incident at Aurora’s and James’ hand was healing nicely. So nicely that his medic was finally allowing him to practice his shooting. It was only a hand gun but his aim had to be kept up, especially with hunting season just around the corner.
He’d been too into his shooting to realize that he was joined by a rather tall and intimidating man. It wasn’t until he stepped in front of him that he realized he had company at all. Thankfully, he realized soon enough to stop himself from pulling the trigger.
He raised an eyebrow at Facilier, shaking his head. “I think the even better question is what she was doing with her sisters. Don’t you?” he asked, careful not to let his face show any hint of emotion.
Ever since Aurora had told her about how James had reacted to seeing her in Aurora’s home, she had worried constantly about him. She was worried he had injured himself. She wasn’t used to him like this, and didn’t know how he’d react.
She figured it was a stupid decision, but she didn’t care. She was going to go see him. She had to know if he was alright.
She called up her driver to tell him to pick her up, and arrived quickly at her former residence. She approached the house, and as she was about to ring the bell, she heard voices coming from the backyard. She crept to the gate, and opened it slowly. It gave a little creak, and she stepped into the garden. “James?”
Claudia chewed on the inside of her cheek, staring out the taxi cab nervously. Facilier had suddenly left the Emporium and she hadn’t the faintest idea where he was. She was nervous, to he honest. Last night she’d been flirting with James a bit, innocently, of course. For some reason, she had a nagging feeling that screamed he was at the German Prince’s mansion.
The taxi came to a stop and she stumbled out, not bothering to pay (seeing as she had given her serviced to this an when she worked at the brothel). She hurried into the house and was directed to the backyard where she found herself staring at James’ backside and there her fiancé stood, though she made no attempt to tell him she was there. She only watched.
He narrowed his eyes, grabbing the prince from the collar of his shirt. He lifted him to his height, hissing out, “What y’all tryin’ to say, Prince?”
He said the title with disgust, “May I mind y’all that ya married? Or do ya not give a fuck anymore, seein’ just how much a fuckin’ man whore y’all are?”
Aurora was taking a small stroll around town, it was about time she decided to leave the house. Paranoia has been on her mind as of late. There was a familiar figure standing in the distance being overly cautious she stood back and waited for the figure to move. She recognized his posture, the way her walked all she needed to do was wait for him to open his mouth.
His eyes watched over the moving figures, barely taking note of anybody, his back to the wall. He wore a hat, as usual, jacket framing his thin body and feet slightly tapping. He blinked and the world became color again, moving off the wall. He hummed, moving.
He looked down, pausing when he saw a flash of cold. Violet eyes looked down at and familiarity came into his sights. ”Aurora,” He stated, casually, “Nice seein’ y’all out ‘ere.”
The castle that James owned was a noticeable one. It was like a glowing beacon in the middle of nowhere. A lovely place for anybody to rid of any little imagination that been prodding their minds at his parties.
At least, that’s how Dr. Facilier saw it.
The doctor walked along the path, eyes shadowed by his top hat and his fists in his pockets, trying to not let his anger be seen too much. It wasn’t until he found an ally, where no one was paying any mind, when his form vanished in a cloud of shadows, crawling along the bricks. Slithering under the doors and window panes of the castle, the glow leaving it slightly.
It took several minutes to actually find the pretty boy prince, finding him in his back yard. He watched, casually, as he shot a few times before he appeared before him, pushing the gun aside with one finger. Being taller than him, he was able to literally look down at him.
“So, care to tell me what y’all be doin’? Flirtin’ with Claudia?”
